  To TheOldHippie. That is interesting I think it is the other way round, that the centre of Sd-7's life is his wife and not him.

  Sd-7 if you learn how to love and respect yourself you will deal with your wife differently and give her the love and respect she needs too, and then you will not indulge in this subservient behaviour towards her. (I've been there, done that. Takes one to know one.)

  Either way I agree with TheOldHippie that you need to do something. I eventually calmly stood my ground and after initial mayhem all turned out well. Hopefully then as BabaYaga says, your wife will wake up too, not only to appreciating you, but also to seeing the truth about the organization.

  WOW that's some story.

  I had a gutsy child like you. She kicked up merry hell as a small child at the meetings. Not as outrightly rebellious after that until in her early teens she started expressing doubts. Thank goodness she did. I have learnt a lot from her. She does have a love for God and did get baptized but won't attend meetings now because of the hypocrisy.

  You were wise then and I am sure you have the wisdom within you to deal with these mind-blowing revelations now. I am finding it a bumpy but fascinating ride.

  Hello..this is my story..

  i'm pleased to have found this site...i've browsed a little ...read quite a lot and gasped at some stories, giggled at the one liners and nodded in recognition of others' strong opinions and can relate to a great deal.. i'll try and keep my intro as brief as possible for anyone kind enough to listen.. i got involved with the witnesses in the late 70's in the uk.

  i was in my early 20s and had had a love and fascination for the bible since my difficult childhood.

  i soon brought my life into 'line' although it took a long time for me to pack up the smoking which didnt go down well in those days when 6 months of study should have been enough and if you hadnt cracked it then it was suggested that you were some kind of loser.... i reared my 4 children in the 'truth' as well as i could but i cant claim that we were a 'strong' family in their terms...just muddled along really..my husband at the time was a very difficult and abusive man and home life wasnt easy for any of us with his anger, jealousy and violence.

  Hello and WELCOME

  Around the same time as you I too had a sort of sudden awakening, a realization that I would one day be in heaven. It was as simple as that. No major spiritual experience. I then had to deal with the reaction of other, many supportive and some not.

  I too have an insatiable appetite for the scriptures and spiritual things. I no longer believe the Bible is inspired by God but I believe many parts (the more loving ones) were written by people while feeling inspirational and I believe that comes from a source we ALL have within us. Whether that source is from a person called God I don't know.

  I am currently enjoying exploring all avenues including evolution and this site is perfect for this. I am grateful to everyone on this site for sharing their beliefs and their journey too, and the support and encouragement in the more difficult moments.

  My experience is given as ...undertheradar... I changed the name to avoid confusion as we have another ...under the radar... on site.

  Looking forward to hearing more from you.

  i left the organization several months ago, and am on a new path now.

  though i didn't grow up in the organization, i have basically lived a life of pretending to be something i'm not, sheltering my feelings from everyone, and not feeling "enough" to anyone.

  If you went out knocking on doors you must have ONE STRONG BACKBONE. How many people can do that?

  If you gave talks on the platform then how many people can do that? It is said that some people fear public speaking more than death!

  You have more power and strength within you than you could possibly realise. It has already taken courage to leave this organisation.

  Make the most of this site, accept the love, join in the debates and release some anger, and keep us informed as we will be looking forward to hearing more from you.

  the 100th monkeythe japanese monkey, macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.. in 1952, on the island of koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand.

  the monkey liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.. an 18-month-old female named imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream.

  I am very interested in how or what can be communicated in this way from one animal or person to another.

  How do birds flying in a flock, and fish swimming together know when to change direction instantaneously as a group?

  I have heard recently about trials on owners and their dogs, where the dogs know when their owners even think about returning home. Apparently the dogs do not do this if they are being distracted at the time.

  How is it that people inventing things, or making discoveries in science, often do so at the same time as people in other parts of the world, and there is a race for the first?

  Thanks for this information. I'd like to start keeping a record of anything like this I hear about.

  THERE IS NO SOURCE OF EVIL

  You and they are picking up intuitively on the feelings and thoughts of others just as animals do when they pick up on our fear of them.

  Even the bible shows that there is only a source of love that holds the power. We all have that power within us to draw on.

  We feel a loss of power when we block the source of love and give way to fear and that can cause negativity leading to evil. People do evil things to others to try to regain that power. Their chief weapon is FEAR.

  YOU ARE PERPETUATING THAT FEAR by focusing on it.

  ROCK MUSIC DOES NOT COME FROM A PERSON CALLED SATAN. Some rock music contains fictitious satanic elements. The only power it can have over you is the power you give it.

  New understanding of the Generation??

  apparently jack barr, member of the gb, has given a new interpretation of the generation in one of his speaches i.e.

  that the generation can apply to those who knew someone who lived in 1914..... will it never end????

  that has Jack Barr's comments on the overlap of the generations.

  As it is not a study article it is only available in audio on the Watchtower site.

  I can't hear so good so maybe someone else might like to type it up.

  prayer before eating

  i mentioned to an elder/friend the other day that it occurred to me that there really doesan't seem to be any scriptural precedent or mandate for the tradition of praying before we eat.

  i said that jesus blessed the loaves and fishes when he performed that miracle, and he blessed the wine and bread at the last supper, but i couldn't think of any other example of it.

  i also suggested that the tradition of praying before eating was probably rooted in giving thanks to the various gods of nature and the perception og god as being involved in the outcome of the harvest, and that, by that way of looking at it, we probably shouldn't pray before eating....silence..
